We loved the festivities of the holidays but we’re ready for something new! ![]() Philip Suger, PhD (PRC), LaC Acupuncturist + Chinese Medicine ![]() We are excited to announce that Phillip Suger, PhD (PRC), LaC has joined The Wellness Centre. Dr. Suger is an expert in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. During his undergraduate education at Penn State, Suger was introduced to classical Chinese philosophy and gained a great respect for its perspective. In his research, he stumbled upon Chinese medicine and right away knew he had found his passion. After graduating with a BS in Neuroscience and a minor in Mandarin Chinese, he went to study at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. During these two years, he began his formal study of Chinese medicine and improved his Chinese language skills. He returned to the U.S. to attend the most prestigious Chinese medicine school in the country, the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. In Portland, he earned his master’s degree and passed all national board exams. Wanting to reach the educational pinnacle of his field, he returned to China to pursue his doctoral degree at the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in internal Chinese medicine. During the 5-plus years he spent in China, he was fortunate to have studied extensively with some of the most highly acclaimed practitioners in the modern era. He has experience working in both small clinics and some of the largest Chinese medicine hospitals in the world. With his first-rate training, emphasizing objective diagnostics and research-backed treatments, he has joined The Wellness Centre to offer acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to the Houston metro area. A gratitude journal is a great way to combat the January blues. Plus, it’s a happy habit to start at the beginning of the year. Keep what you’re grateful for at the top of your mind by writing it down. It may seem silly at first but once you get started, you’ll feel a powerful sense of happiness with each journal entry. Start small; for example if you wake up early after a poor night’s sleep and your day isn’t off on the right foot, take out your journal.
