The holidays are in full force, and if you are just recovering from Thanksgiving, here comes Christmas and New Year’s!  With holiday parties, gift giving, family get togethers, vacations, and let’s not forget, an overabundance of sweets and holiday treats, how do we handle the stress and keep mentally fit? 

We encounter stress everywhere we go, and nobody is 100% stress free. What matters most is how we deal with stress. 

Here are a few tips for handling stress.

  1. Take a minute to focus on your breathing.  Close your eyes and take a few deep belly breaths.
  2. Go for a walk outdoors.
  3. Turn off your phone and electronic devices. 
  4. Drink a nice cup of herbal tea.
  5. Go for a workout.
  6. Get lost in a good book.
  7. Take a warm bath.
  8. Take a nap.
  9. Listen to music.
  10. Call up a friend and catch up.
  11. Do some yoga or meditation.
  12. Take time for yourself and go and get a massage.
  13. Laugh it off!
  14. Don’t worry about things out of your control, and do pray about the rest.
